Hey everyone. I picked up a new Hue Bridge 2.0 today to try out homekit and siri integration. I made a short little unboxing video (my first!) so check it out if you want. Here's the link:

It seems like it will be pretty useful once the lights can be integrated with other homekit products.

you can also mix and match these with the GE link bulbs they also work with the Hue bridge aka zigbee protocol ususlly only cost 14 bucks each but I do prefer the hue bulbs
have you had issues with the GE bulbs showing the ! in a circle? I get this with some bulbs and I reset and reconenct them and they are fine for awhile. I usually control the bulbs through hue connected to my smartthings hub and the smartthings hub will not control the bulbs that are marked that way. I have had a few that won't turn off even with just hue. as they go bad I have been the cheaper hue bulbs.

Thanks for the video. Really excited for this as it brings everything one step closer to that Sci-Fi home automation that we've been seeing for years.

Can't remember if it was this site or another but I read this morning existing customers would be offered the discount November 1.

Where did you buy it?

Yeah I have seen that now, fairly crappy that they make the good existing customers wait to get the new bridge. Guess I will be making a $20 donation.

Best Buy.
The placeholder pricetag had been put on the shelf where they are going to stock it. I asked if they had any in the back and the guy brought one out.

I found the light strips and the starter kit on the website. I'm going to go buy them.

I'm wondering the same.
Why it is not possible to run on the 1st generation. if you talk to siri it communicates via app anyway.
i would prefer if they would offer lets say 30 euro discount. I would buy more lights.

HomeKit has some specifics security requirements so most Phillips, like everyone else, is having to add new hardware to support it. This is why it's taking so long to get HomeKit certified devices to market.

And how would that effect family members ?

Can u control the same light with two phones ?

I could see parents and kids messing around with this... before long you'd be the only house on the block having a disco every-night....... Not that's a bad thing neither.

I already gave my girlfriend access to my lights. It's pretty easy, I just went to settings > HomeKit > Home > invite and all I have to do is type in an Apple ID to share. It will automatically send out an invitation, though the first time I tried she didn't have iCloud Keychain enabled so she never received the invite. Once she activated it there was no problem. And yes, she has already started messing with my lights, haha. But there's no shame in disco parties ;)

Yes I then have to reset the life bulbs by turning off the power to the bulb then turning it on every three seconds(about 5 times) until the bulb dims and goes bright then I have to delete it from hue bridge and re connect it it's kinda a pain when you have a lot of the bulbs especially when the power flickers due to weather it resets them err

Awesome. You don't happen to have any non-Phillips Zigbee bulbs, like the GE Link bulbs, to test if they still work, do you? Uses reported that the prior hub did control those bulbs just fine, and I have ordered some in reliance on that.

I never delete just have it search and it finds it all is well again no renaming or anything . Smartthings would not find the bulb after I reset it it so I used hue it tends tl work better.

Sorry but my setup is all Philips Hue bulbs. After reading this thread though I might buy some of the cheaper GE bulbs in the future! I wasn't even aware that was an option until now...
I can however say that the new Philips Hue lightstrip is much brighter and more functional than the old Lightstrip.

I am from the uk and really want to get hold of the new bridge. They have updated the website and have a shop now button. You click on the links and none of them have the new hub. Any luck with anyone in the uk?

I called John Lewis and they were useless. Lady on the phone did not know what I was talking about lol

They are also incredibly huge and obviously don't have the required chip to support HomeKit

I prefer all in one anytime but technology isn't there yet to implement this approach in light bulbs. The bridge will be the most reliable solution for now.

Have you heard of LIFX bulbs? They work independently, and at $70 each, it's pretty close to $5 extra per bulb (compared to $66 at $200 for 3).

I believe a large portion of that extra power is due to the LIFX bulbs being significantly brighter than Hue bulbs - a Wifi connection shouldn't use anywhere near 8W of power.

What is better about the new lightstrip?
