Is there any trick to sharing that I am missing? I sent an invite to another iCloud user via HomeKit on my iPhone, who accepted it, has access to change the lights through the Hue App, but cannot use Siri commands even though they work perfectly for me.
For me it wasn't working during the morning. Back from work, everything worked fine. Give it a few hours, there seems to be a sync or something going on with an invite. (This is only my experience, haven't read anything about it..)

Where's everyone buying these bad boys? They don't show up in the Apple Store App or website, Amazon is sold out, and they don't show up on Best Buy's website. :)

I order mine on Sunday, Oct 4 from Amazon. They were listed before Monday's announcement. It shipped Sunday night and I received it Tuesday morning.

I got lucky to discover it on Sunday.

Finally the hue bridge version 2 is on Amazon uk but is only a pre order and will not be available until 1st November. How rubbish is that?

I ordered my starter kit on Tuesday from Amazon, got it yesterday, but it looks like they are back ordered now. My local best buy had the started kits and most of the accessories in stock.

Ordered mine (the $200 three-bulb one-bridge kit) from Amazon Oct. 6th and it was delivered Oct. 7th.

Cool! I just realized I should clarify that I'm only looking for a bridge, not the starter kit.
Haven't seen only the bridge yet. I couldn't resist so I went with the starter kit and added 3 bulbs to my set! (Bought it on Amazon on the 5th)

I'm not certain the standalone Bridge 2.0 is for sale yet. Since it was announced, I have followed Philips' website, and there has not been a link to "Shop Now" as there has been for products bundled with the Bridge 2.0. That's why I pulled the trigger and bought the kit. If you need three more white + color lights and a new bridge, the math works out better than buying them separately.

Why has Philips made the 33% discount offer for current hue owners available only after November first? I wanted to order one today, but I can't now if I want the discount. Can I get a sad trombone?

It's because Philips will only allow the discount to be claimed through their own online store, which will not be available until November 1. They will only allow it through their own store because you'll need to provide some identifying piece of information from your current bridge to get the one-time discount. (This is what they said on their Facebook page.)

I will buy this today, if it is easy to create voice command to turn on all lights, set them to red any time I say "red alert"...

God I hope you didn't buy any of these. I realized Philips essentially took the most deceptive route to "integrating" home kit into their products. Essentially ONLY the hub is HomeKit compatible. That's a major problem. If you want to do ANYTHING more than turn on a single named light bulb with Siri, you have to use THEIR app to create a scene. Oh, and unless I'm mistaken you'll have to create a "scene" based on each room or rooms to be included, the color of the lights, the on/off status, and the brightness of the lights. There is no way to change just a subset (read: "room") of these in your home. It's all of the lights or one light.

A simpler explanation: the Hue bulbs weren't HomeKit compatible before, and they still aren't now. Only the hub is. If the bulbs WERE compatible, you'd be able to integrate them into HomeKit's "Home" structure that sorts and categorizes devices by room, for each home. That way you can change the settings of the lights in any given room with voice commands rather than turning them having to change all of the lights settings or changing them one at a time.

I spent so much money on these...I'm so pissed off.

There is SO much wrong in this post.

You can integrate the lights into HomeKit's Home structure. You just need to READ how to do it. It is just days old and the documentation is poor but the structure is there.

You do not want the light bulbs to have a mind of their own, it would overload your WiFi system.

Of course you need to use an App to set things up. I also own an Ecobee3 thermostat. You need their app to set it up to HomeKit.

With Philips Hue, you do NOT need their App to set up HomeKit. In fact one of the best Apps to set up HomeKit with Hue is Eve. You can sent up Homes, Zones, Rooms, and Lights. Then use the Philips' App to set up specific Scenes.

Please do not post what you do not know.

Agreed, you can absolutely set up these bulbs for specific rooms and zones. They are fully HomeKit compatible. The Phillips hue app itself is not capable of creating rooms and assigning bulbs to specific rooms, but there are a multitude of other apps that will do this for you. I happen to like this one:

Home - Smart Home Automation by Matthias Hochgatterer
https://appsto.re/us/WRAx7.i

The app above allows you to easily create rooms, zones, and assign the bulbs to specific rooms. Then you can use Siri commands like, "turn on the lights in the living room." You can say "make the living room lights red." That app also supports triggers, which allows you to have one HomeKit device trigger an action on another one.

Some progress for UK folks. John Lewis has the new starter pack in stock, but only the screw in bulb version - I need the bayonet version.

Amazon lists them as available on 1st November.

So, worst case scenario, a couple of weeks wait. Best case, you can order them now if you want a screw in starter pack.

£149.95 which isn't bad for a hub and three bulbs.

I have ordered the starter kit from currys and it is arriving today. If you buy the screw in one you can just buy adaptors so thy fit in the bayonet

I am just a bit confused with your statement. Without a HomeKit compatible hub, how do I use it with HomeKit?

Without a Hue hub, how do you use hue?

Same thing. The light bulbs are stupid. You need to use a hub no matter what you are doing. The lightbulbs are NEVER HomeKit accessories, the hubs are the accessories.

I didn't say NOT to use a hub, but using the light WITHOUT a HomeKit INTEGRATED hub.

Your post seems to indicate so.

The person I was quoting said the Philips Hue HomeKit hub was a poor way to integrate HomeKit. He wanted each bulb to be an independent HomeKit accessory.

My post was referring to the Philips Hue HomeKit hub as the ONLY way Hue could integrate HomeKit. I explained how you use other apps to do that.

Hmm... Now I am having problem with my ecobee3 HomeKit. After upgrading to 6S plus and doing restore, HomeKit broke in that I can't set ecobee3 using Siri anymore. Reset the HomeKit configuration, uninstalled the app and setup everything again. Now HomeKit couldn't find my ecobee3 anymore. Searched ecobee support and there are tons of post about HomeKit issues.

Moral of the story: HomeKit still in its infancy and there seems to be problem with its implementation. I think I'll hold off with the Hue Hub upgrade.

I had a problem with Siri this weekend and I tried to reset Homekit in the confidentiality settings. Problem is I locked out myself of my hue bridge and I had to reset it (And add the bulbs and recreate scenes and reconfigure all my hue taps.)
This was the only way to relink my hue hub to homekit.
I know I should have unpaired my bridge before, it is my mistake.
I wanted to share so that you son't make the same mistake as I did. Now everything works, but for how long?!?

I'm not sure if that necessarily would have saved you the trouble, because even if you unpaired the Hub first, in order to pair it back you may still have to reset it. Are you sure you could have paired it back without resetting it?

I think if the homekit link would have still been active in my hue app, then i could remove the link. Maybe I am wrong.. I'm not home to check, but you may be right if it is the case, Philips should let us do a backup and restore option. It takes time to create nice scenes and having to do it all over again is frustrating.

I absolutely agree on the back up and restore option. I am pretty worried that if some kind of HomeKit problem arises, that I will have to reset the entire hub and lose all my light bulbs, scenes, switch settings, etc.

On another note, even when I have named the lights in the Hue app, when I access my HomeKit config in another app (like Home, Elgato Eve, etc) it just has a name like "Hue color light" or "Hue white light." Is that what you guys are seeing also? I guess you have to rename it your self to match the name you put into the Hue app. A minor inconvenience, but the Lutron SmartBridge automatically names things the same as he named them in the hub.

Edit: I cannot name the light bulb the same, as it says that a similar objects already exists.

I have the same issue with the Home app. Are you saying this happens with elgato's app too? It's kind of annoying and makes no sense.
