It synchronises hue smart lights with the picture on your TV. So the colour of the lights matches what is on the screen. I might have to get one if this update works as advertised.
Same here I never even knew this thing existed! Sounds pretty cool tho so yeah like you said, if it really does work then color me intrigued 🤔

What we really need is TVs with an HDMI output for this purpose. I don't want to have a middle man between my devices, and this isn't going to work with HDMI 2.1 consoles where I would use it most. It's already hard enough to get all the protocols passing back and forth as it is. Too bad Philips Ambilight isn't in more tv's.

What a pointless device. Philips home automation dept have run out of ideas it would seem?
I love Hue and have a ton of their bulbs, switches, motion sensors, etc around my home but this makes little commercial sense to me.
This basically is Philips Ambilight. In a dark environment, it creates the optical illusion of having a wall size screen. Once you've experienced it, it's hard to find a successor screen as it was Philips exclusive. I had 3 generations of Philips Ambilight TVs before moving on to a large screen Laser Projector. Would definitely buy this if I still had a flat screen. Especially as Philips TVs became total crap when the sold the business to some Chinese company. This box finally allows to add Ambilight to any screen, totally cool!

Anyone have this to comment on its worth?
I pulled the trigger on one a couple days ago and it works great. My system is wired like this:
Apple TV (input 2) & PS4 (input 4)>Sync Box>Vizio Atmos Sound Bar>Vizio PQX TV via ARC

I have the lights set to sync automatically with the PS4 but not with the Apple TV (SWMBO finds the lights distracting) while watching TV shows). Works like a charm every time. Only gripe I have is with CEC and Dolby Vision through the Apple TV. It appears that every time the sync box and Apple TV power down via CEC, the Dolby Vision setting is forgotten and I get a prompt to set it up when both devices are turned back on. I was able to avoid this issue by turning off CEC on the Sync Box and have not had this issue since.

no homekit support? hey siri has been working for awhile...thought this update was suppose to allow box to connect to home app...damn
You can enable siri controls via the siri shortcuts app. Takes a little extra work, but once you add short cuts, everything works via voice.
