Sorry, but that’s just a ridiculous thing to write. How can you possibly speculate what somebody else’s lighting needs are? That’s absolute nonsense. Then questioning someone’s eyesight? How the f*** do you know what they’re lighting? Maybe they’re reading, maybe they’re doing a jigsaw puzzle, maybe they’re tying fishing flies. The comments that some of you people leave are just... why?

The maximum brightness of standard A19 Hue lights doesn’t come close to the brightness and lumens that are available in traditional incandescent bulbs and halogens. Hue bulbs max out at around 840 lumens or 60w equivalent. Hundreds of millions of people around the world use 75W and 100W bulbs (or equivalent) every single day. This is standard sh**, man.

Hue definitely needs to introduce some brighter bulbs in order to make their range of products useful in a wider variety of situations, and to become a viable alternative to traditional bulbs for more people. This is not in question.

Do you just go around MR looking to disagree with everyone ? lol come on now every time I see when of your posts it always starts off by calling the other person “ridiculous” or “stupid”. lol nothing different here I see.

Didn’t know you were the end all be all of info on MR. Good job!

I have some Hue coloured lights setup in a couple entertainment areas.

however, the syncing of the colours to your display is currently limited to being controlled via computer only and only syncs to whats on the computer screen (MAC or PC). There's no support yet for any TV, game console or add on streaming box like the Apple TV.

the feature is awesome. But needs more widespread app support. Its fine in my office/gaming room. But I don't have a computer in the living room or bedrooms, which defeats the purpose of smart TV's and the small addon boxes like Apple TV or chromecasts.

his argument boils down to "Stop liking what I don't like"

The HUE lights can sync to any Phillips TV with Ambilights, thats how i watch tv somethimes, just enabling the sync in the tv with a push of a button and all the lights in the room follows the colors on the tv no matter what is the source.

They also gradually wake me up in the morning without the need for a sound alarm!

This is my favorite feature of the lamps. It's so easier to wake up than an audible alarm. I also set them to fade out as I'm watching TV in bed (don't judge, it works for me). About 5-10 minutes after they shut off, I'm ready to fall asleep. Could have something to do with the trazadone kicking in also.

Who the heck wants their house to look anything like the lighting in those marketing photos? I have a headache just looking at the photos, I can't imagine anyone actually wanting to live in that...

Sometimes people post information that is wrong. I sometimes correct it. It’s about the content. If you or someone else posts something that is accurate then there would be no need for me or anyone to set the record straight.

And to be clear, I didn’t call the fellow MR poster ridiculous. I said their post was ridiculous. I hope you understand that there is a very big difference.

The fact that you are choosing to focus on and attack/blame me for your/other people’s innacuracies and poorly made points, rather than defending the content of your/their posts, is telling.

Yeah, was not convinced about waking up by light at 5AM in the morning but it really works Same, got all scenes to fade after 11:30PM. Best of all, when no one is home (work or away on vacation) can make it look as someone is home by having certain lights come on and off at certain times.

Really? I love Hue lights in my house, including some pretty dramatic colors. Maybe my guests secretly don't like them, but they certainly tell me otherwise.

Hate to break it to you, but it's sort of like when you get a new haircut: people will usually only call attention to it when there's something they don't like (even though they'll still compliment it). It's just human nature. But as long as you like it, I guess it really doesn't matter, does it?

I tried to allow for that possibility in my comment, but I have no reason to think that’s the case.

Also, I am a fairly voracious consumer of style and design publications, and I note that a number of highly-regarded designers make use of Hue (or similar) colored lighting.

Also a huge fan of the fade feature. I have one on my porch and have it set to sunrise and sunset for auto on/off, also an excellent feature.

Can i put philips hue light on the wall and use it as lighting the room?

I don't know what "put it on the wall" means. Hue lights are like standard lightbulbs. You plug them into a socket. You could plug them into a wall socket if you wanted, or into a lamp socket. The main thing is that each lightbulb talks via radio to the Phillips Hue base station, so you need that base station placed somewhere in your house, and the lightbulbs need to be able to reach the base station. (OK through normal wallboard walls, might be a problem for walls that are concrete+rebar or for a very large house.)
