My wife’s SE’s phone app has stopped working.

I’m not sure how it happened, but whenever you open the phone app it’s stuck on the recents tab and it won’t let you do anything.
Even after restarting/turning the phone off and on it will only let you touch one or two things thing freeze again.

She can only make calls if she opens the contacts app.

Has anyone else heard/experienced this?

I tried searching here and on google but it’s difficult to get a good match for the ‘phone’ app on a phone...

If anyone asks her battery health is 86% and storage wise she has about 10gb free out of 64gb.
Also on the latest iOS 12 version.

Try “reset all settings” in settings > general > reset

Didn’t even think of that, thank you!
Works fine now, though she’s obviously annoyed it’s basically a stock phone now.

Took forever, about as long as updating the OS...

I also just had this issue.

I didn’t have to restore, I plugged it into iTunes, it asked if carrier settings should be updated, I said yes and all has been working.

Seems to be a carrier setting bug.

No problem! Might be a pain to change the settings back to what they were before the reset, but it’s better than having an i”Phone” that you can’t make calls with. Tell her that

my brother had it happen the day they announced they were discontinuing the SE.

I had to deal with a lot of planned obsolescence rants before I figured out a fix :p

She could techincally make calls, but had to open the contacts app and use that.
She had voice mails she didn’t know about from our son’s doctor and from other people, so good thing I took action now and didn’t wait.
