Anyone know of an app that will block phone calls. I'm in the 425.351.xxxx area. Actually I'm pretty sure "351" is only for cell phones. Daily I'm getting 3-5 robo calls "masked" to appear to be local. As soon as I get them, I immediate block the number, but there are 9,999 possible 351.xxxx fake numbers. PITA.

I saw one app in the apps store that charged $25 a year, but wonder if it really works. If it did, I would probably cough up the 25 bucks. I hate these fake calls, especially when I'm driving. If I answer, there's almost never anyone on the line.

My cell provider is ATT if that matters.

I use Numbo and Hiya from App Store. Has helped.

I don't think any of them will do what you are asking and what I wanted them to do. That is block all numbers after the 3 digit prefix.

Being with AT&T they have a free app called Call Protect. It has cut down these calls by maybe 85 to 90%. It has not caused me to loose any calls I wanted. It is free and it really works well.

These idiots can spoof any number to be displayed, I have even picked up my phone and it said "POLICE".

I assume the app has to be running for it to work. I'm crossing my fingers!!!

Thanks

After installing and opening the app for the first time, it should ask you if you want to enable call protect on your account. Once you enable it, you do not have to have the app open or in the task switcher for it to work. The call protect feature works on a network level, not a device level. You can go into the app to view what was blocked and report garbage numbers, but that is essentially all the app is used for.

Robokiller has an option to block all "local exchange" calls (you can white-list numbers you do want plus all contacts are white-listed). My cell is 908-377-xxxx and it blocks everything from 908-377-xxxx. No one I know has that exchange but me. I would get 6-7 calls every day from various 908-377-xxxx spoofed callers. Once I even got a call from myself!

I'm tryng "call protect" and so far it seems to be working. God Bless ATT! I was probably getting 3 spoof calls daily. This should be illegal and serious time in the slammer for anyone caught spoofing local numbers for their garbage trolls.

ATT must have seen us coming as they are now offering some deluxe features for $3.99 a month. I am not biting. The standard app work very well for me.

Leave it up to ATT to snif out where they can make some more money.

I have one line on AT&T and I've been using the AT&T app to block calls. Works great.

I had someone actually spoof my own number to call people advertising some trip. One day, I got a call from someone asking why I called him and I thought it was someone returning my call to repair a fence in my yard. The next day, he called me all upset threatening to call my carrier to report me calling him about these spam calls. I called T-Mobile who was my carrier and they told me I had nothing to worry about since they have records of calls made and received from my number. I feel sorry for anyone who owns these numbers that these creeps spoof. They don't deserve to have their numbers used in this way.

I'm interested in this too. Does this local exchange trick for the spammers really work? It's so annoying.

Just downloaded RoboKiller and enabled the call and text spam checking.

We'll see how this one week trial goes. I see they have an option for "answer bots" to pick up spam calls and play a recorded "conversation". It then sends you a recording of the call. Should be pretty entertaining.

I think everyone is getting this experience. The spoofers put up a person's first 3 digits of their phone number. The other 4 don't matter. IF your number is 425.502.xxxx, they spoof the 502, making you think it might be someone you know.
