Really? Where did you see the poor reviews?
It looks like the current version has a 4.0-star rating on the iTunes App Store. Granted, this isn't the best place for gauging app quality. (Though when an app's ratings are "polarized" vs one-sided, many times the negative reviews are driven purely by user error/ignorance - not poor app quality. Just IMO.)
But I'd initially read about this app through an independent review site, not iTunes. I don't recall exactly which site it was (I wanna say iphone.appstorm, macworld or cultofmac), but a quick Google search turns up a few:
