So I had a phone call on my iphone earlier today and as soon as i hung up i happened to notice that instead of the usual "3g" logo or even the rare "edge" logo I saw the nearly mythical (at least for me) "gps circle"!! Not only did i find is strange to see this where I usually get full 3g coverage, but also the fact that I was actually still getting great voice reception quality... 😀

Was this the little blue sphere that shows up in the Maps app when GPS is locked on or did it look like a little "degrees" symbol (small empty circle)?

I have NEVER experienced this in the 1 1/2 years I have owned an iPhone and iPhone 3G. I have seen it on iPhone screen shots, but never in person. It's a very weak signal... I guess I'm fortunate to have great AT&T coverage.

that's probably the only time that's ever been said

I see it about 2-3 times a month. It's usually only there for 20-30 seconds and then it disappears.

Very similar to my Elvis sightings, now that I think about it.

I just took a picture using the home button as the camera lens! It was a picture of my pet unicorn and no you can't see it.

Here in The Netherlands every other connection than 3G on my iPhone is GPRS. And that's quite often, T-Mobile NL has a lot of holes in it's cover, and GPRS is truly horrible.
Now really,
Horrible😱
Maybe 20KB/s MAX

GRPS. You aren't making calls over your GPS satellite locating signal.
