Not sure what changed, but before this week phone calls never sounded this clear. And now it almost like going from regular tv to hd quality. Did something change with AT&T recently? I have an iPhone 6s Plus. I notice it mainly with my other family member on her iPhone 6.

This is pretty cool. Where are all the commercials for this cutting-edge technology? My area is covered. Can't wait to use the iPhone to actually call somebody to check it out.

It's on AT&T website. Doesn't show my city yet. But it definitely switched.

This is nothing new. In my country HD voice calls have been available 3 years since 2012. Anyway, nice to see you get it too.

Same here, my area does not show HD Voice on the AT&T map but if I call a friend who has an iPhone 6 with my new iPhone 6s here, it does not switch back to 4G anymore as it did with my 5s. The difference in sound quality is like day and night, very cool!

You'll also notice your phone now stays on LTE during the call rather than going to slower 4G mode. That's a sure sign you are on VoLTE.

This is what appears to have happened to me, although their maps say that it's not yet available in Tampa.

Somewhere
Both sides need to have it enabled as well.
I don't think that's the case. I don't know how AT&T implements it, but with Verizon, once I flipped the setting to turn it on it stuck with LTE during calls and I could use voice and data at the same time no matter who I was talking to, and that includes some people who I know have phones that don't support it even if it is enabled in their area.

Doesn't have anything to do with VoLTE being supported, he was talking about HD Voice. With HD Voice both sides would have to have it enabled/supported.

This is also why the telcos all over the world (at least in the more developed countries) are phasing out 2G.

If you still have a 2G feature phone in those places, it'll be as useful as a brick.

VOLTE doesnt mean automatically you get HD calling! you might have VOLTE but not HD calling. Here in Tampa AT&T recently rolled VOLTE but we still dont have HD caliing.
