Phone frozen after resting on dock (very dark screen but not off)

every once in a while I will take my phone off a charging dock and the screen will be frozen and the only thing I can do is do a cold forced boot to get it back to normal.

anyone know why this is happening?

This happens with my 4 all the time and it drives me insane, so I'm interested in an answer as well

well, its good to know i'm not alone, too bad it seems nobody has an answer.

So, are you running any apps or anything like that while the phone is in the dock (like some people run some clock/alarm apps or perhaps have something else running in the background perhaps)?

Just Pandora, then when I take it out. music stops and phone is locked up.

i'm guessing the music stops because it pauses the music from playing from the dock. Not sure why the phone is locked though
