Phone goes to sleep/locks screen whenever on a call

My iPhone 7 Plus goes to sleep/locks screen whenever on a call. How do I prevent this?

Is this when simply talking using the earpiece (by the ear/face) or when using speakerphone or headphones/Bluetooth?

It does it with all calls but it's particularly frustrating when I am on speakerphone. I just want to hit end when the call is over rather than unlocking my phone, then navigating to the call, and then hitting end.

Usually in that case you see the call information at the top of the screen (as a photo or thumbnail with initials and a name or phone number) and you can just tap on that to go directly to the call screen.
