Phone just dropped brightness

Out in the sun and the screen dropped brightness where it’s very difficult to read.
I checked bightness and battery Setting for not on low power setting.

many ideas is the phone going?

It’s likely the auto-brightness feature is cutting in. Head over to settings and search “auto-brightness.” If you switch it off you shouldn’t have your phone adjusting your brightness when the lighting changes.

I just figured out the phone was hot and shut the screen down.
it’s cooled and working fine now.
Major Duh!

If it happens again, check you auto brightness setting. I prefer keeping it off as keeping it on consumes more battery.

I have noticed my phone losing battery faster when I have auto brightness on. I keep my brightness level below medium brightness and leave it at that. With auto brightness, the phone go to full brightness when you are in the darker areas consuming more power. It is probably more helpful for people who have high brightness level.

Perhaps re-calibrating might be in order as generally speaking the brightness should decrease in darker areas (given that less of it would be needed when it's darker around).
