that would have to be the heaviest mouse ever.

and no, you couldn't "operate" a display with it. not without a logic board and processor, graphics card, some kind of wireless video transfer device (meaning something faster than gigabit ethernet), a battery, and other things. i doubt they're going to get a whole computer to fit into a mouse for that purpose. maybe in 5-10 years at least.

plus, i just don't see it as apple's style. the more you try to make with combo devices, the worse the quality of each part, which is why i don't care for them in general. the hd would be tiny, would be awkward to use as an mp3 player, there's way better wireless phones out there than what you'd have to squeeze into that thing, mousing would be a chore, and it would use too much power.

i say, fake-o.

i think not.

at first i thought it was just rediculous... but if you think about it, there are potential applications (however limited)... if you were in a multi-mac environment, like a school or rotational office, you could give one of these to each person, it would have ALL of your data (and settings) on it, and since it's an input device, you couldn't use a Mac without it (eg authorization). plus the iPod/cellphone would give you a reason to keep it on you.

still, i don't believe it. it's way too narrow of a user base... i mean, no one would buy one for their home computer...

i think someone just heard about the iPod-like rotary mouse and took it too far-- "if there's a rotary dial, it must have an iPod INSIDE it!"...

however unlikely, i think it looks so cool. Instead of just buying an ipod you get a bluetooth wireless mouse and a mobile too. The question is would the HD fit in something the size f a mouse, well I dont have a iPod but i remember thinking they are smaller than they look and my M$ mouse is pretty big really (standard scroll wheel one). The benfits are of course that you don't have to carry a mp3 player and a mobile, just one device, you get to keep your important files with you at all times and can send them via your phone to wherever you want without transfering them. You get to keep the mouse you are comfortable with, ith you all the time (without having to lump a mouse round with you, very useful if you have a lap top (and can be used as a disc with your laptop via the ipod firewire cable. Solves the recharge problem with bluetooth as it gets recharged when your recharging your iPod anyway as its the same device. It also gives you a reason to have a bluetooth mouse except for just the looks of having no cable clutter. Maybe it could be used for automatic log ins too...if you have your mouse/ipod then its you so let you use your account...if its stolen then report it to the computter and it disables the auto log in's. Move away from the computer and it log's out and saves your work. Then it can act as a remote for bluetooth enabled things like the sony ericsson clicker thing, like controlling next gen tv's, hi fi's, and lights etc.

Like I said, its not likely, but it has a lot of uses, a lot of features that could save time and definatly got a 'why didn't i think of that' thing about it. now wether a mouse casing is big enough to fit an ipod (ipod os is probs good enough to fit all phone os functunality in it and the processing of the button, scroll and optical sensor), mouse optical sensor and phone keys and ariel is another matter, i thin its maybe possible as long as the hd fits. I'd buy one if i could afford it unless maybe a bluetooth mouse came as standard and i wasn't gonna buy a iPod anyway. What would be really killer is if it could fit airport in it for faster data transfer while away from the computer but mainly so it could comunicate further away from the computer, then it could be a remote control for the whole house.

HAHAHAHAHA oooh man..

Lets just say it was real?

I wouldn't really want to use my new ipod as a mouse and get it scratched up now would I?

Pfft..

Its an iPod, Mouse and Phone...... ROTFLMAO....this person is a complete IDIOT,,, another freaken SpyMac:D

I have to agree, it makes no sense at all. It would be very heavy for a mouse, big and heavy for a phone, and cumbersome for an iPod. It would be cordless for mousing (bluetooth, right?) but would be connected to firewire for music and charging. So how would you select songs in iTunes while it was connected to firewire? Ah... with your keyboard only...

Well as long as we're fantasizing, I'd like a GPS receiver in mine too. (Wouldn't a lot of mouse movement cause gyroscopic effects on the spinning hard disk? Wouldn't the headset cord interfere with mouse movement?)

Here's a side by side of a mouse and an iPod for some perspective...

while this doesnt make any real logical sense at all, look at what happened for the last major release, people suspect smaller and larger powerbooks, and people thought that was total bull$hit too... now im not saying that theres a good chance that this...err... thing will be released, but there might be some slight amount of truth in it... hey we never know

HEY thats a neat idea!!!

year of the laptop!! I remember how I laughed at the rumor of the 17 inch portable

I just though of it when I saw the mouse next to the guys titanium laptop, it could work.

Since now I have an ibook when you go out I need to bring my ipod, mouse and thumdrive, plus mobile phone thats 4 things all sizable

WHAT MORE IS BETTER then putting it all together into one, if there was about 10 GB space or 5 GB it would be good enough for music storage, file storage and phone storage.

After being a Phone, ipod and PDA it could become a mouse for laptops!!!, you guys forgot that optical mouse needs to be used ona a smooth surface and apple is likely to shield the surface with a polycarbonate plate.

ITS a very cool idea if they made it reality, also the ipod I have is about the same size as a mouse...

also if it carried settings, it could link laptops and desktops together so the two machines have exact same profiles plus

everything through your mouse....including a phone...very cool....

oh did I say how cool it would be if your computer recovered from sleep when you walked near it :p

Also I don't see how the power drain would be excessive, ipod runs off a hard disk decently, a mouse and phone addition without a color display won't add alot of power drain

and it will be the cutest device in the world

remember steve jobs " we believe in all in ones" and macs are basically all in ones

But this device it's a lot different than a notebook(something that you'd buy).
They wouldn't bundle these devices due to technical reasons.

Unsanitary--why would I want to put my mouth next to something I've been sliding all over available surfaces?

Yecchhh!
