Phone software on a Mac

hi, i'm wanting to route my phone landline through an iMac so i can answer and make calls and speak through the inbuilt Mic. Anyone out there know of a soloution? Tried PhoneValet with little success as it does half of what i'm after.

Bought the Mac usb modem to achieve this - just need the software to make this work.....

I have NOT used this, so I'm not saying you should get it.
