Hi everyone,

I will be going to London for a day or two next week and was wondering if it's possible to buy a phonebook sim (iPhone activation SIM) easily there? In South Africa if you do find them they are terribly overpriced (about $50).

Thanks!

What's a phonebook SIM? Anyway you can get a PAYG SIM from pretty much any network for next to nothing.

For example O2 will give you one for free. If you have an iPhone 4 you may have to go in-store to get a micro-SIM though...

It's essentially a blank SIM card which allows you to copy contacts from one phone to another.

Then someone figured out that it could be used to activate an iPhone without the official carrier's sim card. It is therefore used in the unlocking and jailbreaking of iPhones.

In the USA they go for a few dollars and you can buy them in shops like radioshack.

I've never heard of a non-carrier linked SIM in the UK. Maybe someone else has though...
