Photo Booth Effects

I downloaded the extra photo booth effects and whenever I use certain ones...ASCII Art and the Cowboy one for example, the pictures come out white/inverted/or nothing. I tried making the program running in 32 bit and that doesn't fix anything either, anyone else having this problem or know the solution?
