I hope you all like this. I am totally new to photography , I had to learn in a weeks time before leaving for Mexico. This is one of my first actual shots , and first edit with Gimp =)

If anyone has any info on how I can make this pic better let me know.

Some great shots already and it's only the 2nd :)
I was out on another bug hunt today.

Lily with Ladybug

I think this is a small ladybug on the lily- though the head isn't black and its tiny, so it may be something else entirely- crop included in case anyone can ID it for me...

One of the 340 photos I took today on my short trip through Hico, Dublin, and Stephenville, TX. This one from Hico. Was trying out my new Canon XS, still learning how to use it.

taken at the Bridestones in North Yorkshire.

You found an interesting subject to photograph, but it wasn't the right time of day. The sun is very high and strong, so the largest face of the rock is not getting any light, and there is too much contrast from that harsh light. If you are able to return to this site, try going an hour or two before sunset or else shortly after sunrise, whenever that face of the rock is lit with warm light from a low sun. Also, maybe you can try a different angle to get more of those distant hills in the composition. They're just barely visible at the left. Being able to see more of them would give the photo more depth.
