⛓️ The Manhattan Bridge is a suspension bridge that crosses the East River in New York City, connecting Lower Manhattan at Canal Street with Downtown Brooklyn at the Flatbush Avenue Extension. The Manhattan Bridge connects Chinatown in Lower Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn. The bridge supports seven lanes of vehicular traffic, four transit train lines, a pedestrian walkway, and a separate bikeway. As of 2018, over 75,800 vehicles, 2,700 pedestrians, and 6,200 cyclists travel over the Manhattan Bridge each day.

Considered to be the first modern suspension bridge, the Manhattan Bridge was the earliest to use slender "two-dimensional" steel towers with shallow stiffening trusses. The Manhattan Bridge was the world's third longest from 1909 to 1924.
