Alfred is not the only heron who is attracted to our pier. Yesterday a Green Heron stopped by to check things out, and after spending some time perched on one of the chains he decided to strut around the pier a little before preparing to take off (the reason for the strange position of his wings):
I altered the sky in this shot of the White-breasted Nuthatch to achieve a darker look, though there's still room for improvement. I'm impressed that I managed to focus on this nuthatch, as it was right in my face on an overhead branch. These little birds are very curious, likely searching for food, especially since many people feed them at Kensington Metro Park. This was taken early in the year.
