Well, it takes patience and perseverance.
I actually used black card behind the object which makes post processing in Photoshop much easier (as you already have a plain background to work with).
That really is the trick, make your background as plain as possible and it will make for much better editing later. This applies whether you go round the entire head like I do or opt to use one of the more automatic, less precise selection tools.

Not sure about the frame... but I like the organic shapes (tree branches), and the stark symmetry of the windows, and the way the picture area is divided into three...
I know this was not taken today, but I rediscovered it today. I took this while on a work trip in northern Minnesota.

New to this thread, not so new to photography as it must be about 50 years ago that my father asked me to take a picture with his Rolleiflex.... However, only recently active again.
Staying at the moment in NE China celebrating the New Year at my partner's place. It's cold here but i enjoy the skating.

I really like all the lines in the photo. normally my preference is to isolate but i really like this photo.
