The Snowpocalypse

That was the actual name I heard used on the news. Just a quick snapshot to share from the back deck in the metro DC area. It's still snowing hard too.

Fog at Fairy Castle:

4335120554_70d22c8ca1_o.jpg

This cairn sits on top of the Bronze Age passage grave, known as Fairy Castle [snip] although a small depression on one side of the mound may mark its location.

I just wanted to mention that I appreciate the brief descriptions you pass along with your photos. Of course, I enjoy the photos as well, but its good to read what some call the "cut line". Keep 'em comin'. Barry

Love the snow shots... and I have to agree with Barry. I really appreaciate a cutline/caption or whatever. It often helps me to appreciate a picture better.

Final snow shot from the big D.C. snow storm today. I'd say we got well over 24" at our locale.

Where did you take this from?

NathanCH, the person most likely took the photo of Lions Gate Bridge from Cypress view point or perhaps Seymour Mountain. I took the exact same shot from Cypress view point. Just bring your tripod for the long exposure. Good luck getting up there right now with all the Olympic security. I could be wrong though. I wanted to go there this morning to catch the sunrise and the morning cloud/fog with the buildings poking through.

All of you take such great photos! I'm so jealous!

NeGRit0, sweet shot. As a car enthusiast that is a very nice ride indeed.

finnschi, that photo is amazing! I tried doing the same thing but I got too much vibration as well but I will be trying it again soon.

Doylem, great reflection! Very beautiful. I want to frame it and hang it up.

Here is mine I shot a few hours ago. Not bad but I think I could have done better. I'll have to try it again.

Excellent framing and light going on here. The tone difference between the center and the edges give it a great feeling of depth. I usually don't care for borders but the black does seem to pop the color out. I like ...

Driving home from the Saturday morning errand run in town and saw a huge gathering of eagles. My wife had me run home and grab the camera and go back. One shot had more than 30 bald eagles... Wish I would have remembered I had a tripod in the truck... any way shot hand held and was able to get fairly close. They were feeding...

Lens
Nikkor * ED 300mm 1:4.5

Manual settings F-8 1/500, ISO 500

Did some shots today, and I had a more difficult time that I thought I was going to.

This is from Houston, it is not supposed to be this cold here.... I usually take pictures of food, bad ones at that, anyone want to help me learn how to take better pictures of plated food?

Frozen food or a nice hot meal…;) Well nice pic simply because I didn't know that snow and Texas were even introduced to each other even if it is rare :) Good luck with food pictures.

I'd say most anyone here would be willing to help, was there a more specific question you had? I have learned a great deal from frequenting this forum. Maxxamilan (SP?) even helped me figure out how to do DOF shots.
