Have been playing around with the new Mac Mini and on a whim decided to give the Acorn photo editor a try. Missing individual color channel levels controls. Does have an overall levels control which does not impact color balance. Instead it uses curves and I found them easier to use than expected. Did the final sharpening in Preview, but that has been my go to for the sharpening step for at least a decade. Also missing a hilites and shadows adjustment but I was able to accomplish what I wanted with using the curves. That said the Hilites and Shadows algorithm in Preview is more than adequate most of the time.
Sphinx Observatory at the Jungfrau in Switzerland. Was going to use this as my entry for this week's photo contest, but decided to go with something more local to myself instead. Shot with a Panasonic GH5. Good thing I had my digital camera with me, as my film camera couldn't operate normally under sub-freezing conditions.
My maternal grandparents old homestead on the Main Street in Milton-Freewater, OR (Pop. approx 5,000). My mother was born in this house. Unfortunately, since this photo was taken, some people bought the property who didn't care for it and it doesn't look like this anymore. . Good memories still reside.
A former brewery (I think) turned into a winery. Hop Kiln Winery, I believe. My wife felt “spirits” inside so I think of the place as being haunted. Who knows. Russian River Valley, California.
