Thanks guys. The people ended up being a very welcomed accident, when I started my exposure they were all standing by the last pillar, but when I clicked the shutter they decided to move.

However, I was wondering if anyone thought the photo might have to much red in it? I like the warm feel of the image, but the colors don't match reality. Any opinions would be welcome.

A shot of a friend at night... I had her stand in one spot, I fired the flash, had her move, fired it a second time, then I closed the shutter. I played around with aperture and don't recall exactly what it was for this shot. I believe I shut it down a fair bit to minimize reflection from the white concrete wall, shooting in bulb mode and all. Created an eerie, very faintly noticable second image of her, standing next to herself.

Your last few pix have been terrific: more dynamic, more drama, with the surfers making better shapes against the waves, capturing the 'decisive' moment, etc... It's as though you're reducing the space between viewer and subject, so we feel we're in the pic... not just watching from a distance. This is what happens, I guess, when we keep shooting the same things over and over again: we get to know the 'language' of what we're photographing...

Thank you! And thanks, kayes! I think the greatest improvement personally is that as my confidence is growing I am not afraid to get knee deep in the action so to speak... instead of being self conscious about holding a large camera in public. I am getting closer literally, when possible. The surfers don't mind and they are getting to know what to expect from me when I'm working. Anybody need some surf shop sponsor tees lol! That's about all a surfer can afford to give in return... (That and first priority on a nice left every now and then is all I ask.)

Got a new faster zoom this week. We'll see how it does... just shooting macros in the back yard to test IQ today.

I am in awe of your work...

I must say that I am in awe and inspired the work of Doylem's landscapes, Everythingisnt work in Vancouver, Otter's work in Seattle and southeast Asia. ghostguts portraita, valdore's HDR work, and so many more of you.

Anyway the sky this evening was just too cool, and the bald eagle was a bonus...
