Ross Lake Overlook, North Cascades Hwy., WA. The lake gets its dramatic color from the presence of glacial flour formed from olivine-rich Skagit gneiss, which is carried into the lake by glacier-fed streams. The North Cascades National Park Complex has over 300 glaciers, more than any other area in the USA outside of Alaska.

I see a couple of outstanding Panoramas that absolutely should be cross posted to the panorama thread.

Small Dragon Fly out at Chinook Lake, AB. I love any bug that eats mosquitoes and they seem to be doing a terrific job as I did not encounter a single one of the blood suckers that gorgeous afternoon.

It is now buzzard (aka turkey vulture) season at our ranch. They come around this time every year to soar on the updrafts in our valley and bathe in the pasture horse water trough. We ended up putting a second larger water trough outside the pasture fence just for buzzard bathing, and they actually use it for that!
This guy made it down to the side yard to get his picture taken, 40 feet from cottage.

Yup .. damselflies (like the one in your photo) and dragonflies are very beneficial insects to have around -- especially for us humans, who hate mosquitos, and other biting or sucking insects!! :)
