Beautiful! Western NC, specifically the Boone/Blowing Rock area is my family's favorite getaway. I feel at home in the mountains.

I too feel at home in the mountains, and miss living in Virginia every day. I feel absolutely out of place here in SW Florida!
Western NC IS gorgeous, isn't it? Do you also go from Boone to Linville and Grandfather Mountain?

I had a painful surgery because the surgeon was late and he had one more patient after me

ouch, sorry to hear that, esp since I had some procedure performed in my left hand and luckily it was totally numb.
File a complaint/grievance with your insurance.

No my style...although I do like the background: an Iris just at it begins to bloom 
I could live there, but I am lucky I live as close as I do.(3 hours) Yes, Boone to Linville. Been to the Linville caverns a couple times also. I have on the other hand, scaled Grandfather Mountain 8 times. I will share some more photos. I am not much of a beach person....but oh how I love the mountains.
