It really depends on what your concept is for the photo. What did you want to communicate with it?

Virtual, I agree with Ms. P. The warm tones that you have presently give the picture (at least in my mind) a very warm feeling, maybe even intimate. If you adjust the white balance, obviously, the whites come out and give the picture a whole different feel and I think the centerpiece would stand out and "pop" more. I am not sure what the change in WB would have with the background. maybe play with it and post both side by side?? Was the camera set on AWB??

I like the warm tones, personally if the colours were closer to the true tones i'd find them to be overpowering and a little too much..

Thanks. My intent with the photo was... "that seems like an inviting place to dine" and without any consideration, I left the white balance untouched (AWB). However, when it came to posting it here earlier today, I got to wondering to myself, why didn't I adjust the white balance?... Perhaps it's because I occasionally like the mood of uncorrected WB on incadescent indoor lighting and therefore didn't even consider correcting it. It sounds like most of you agree... that it may be better left as is. I'll try correcting the WB and post another version later for your consideration.

Had to abandon my usual 100 ISO & f11. The wind was so strong, I wasn't sure if my tripod was 'shivering'. I got the shutter speed up to 1/250sec, and it's sharp... River Kent in Kendal, with the Lakeland hills beyond...

A Sunset from last night

Hey everyone!

This is my second post here but I've been lurking around for quite some time and I've found a lot of inspiration from your great work!

Here is an image from last night taken at Golden Gardens Park here in Seattle.

Nice! I've been considering their suite after trialing Dfine... What do you think of it?

I have the whole suite and I like it. In particular Silver Efex Pro and Viveza, but the others also. I am not a heavy PP man, certainly not HDR, but it forms a good tool set for enhancing/correcting what is already good. I use them as plugins in Aperture, which has a nice set of tools already, so you may not need it urgently.

This was a try at a night shot. Fishing boats with green lights to attract the squid. Tripod + remote shutter + mirror up to get those small green lights sharp (but the boats move a little on the sea).

I have the NIK complete package as plug-ins for Aperture. Of all of them I feel Silver Efex Pro is the best with Color Efex second. I try not to do a heck of a lot of PP and I am not really that adept at fiddling with curves, etc. But if I want to convert to a B&W photo I reach for SE Pro. So if I could only buy one of their suites, Silver Efex Pro would be it.
