Welcome to Photo of the Day. The POTD thread was started by iGary in May, 2006 and converted to a monthly thread in November 2007 by Arn. POTD is one of the most popular picture groups on MacRumors, often exceeding 500 posts and 20,000 views per month.

Photo of the Day is intended to be a showcase for your best pictures. There is no limit to your gear, just your imagination. P&S and film cameras are welcome along with DSLRs. There are no themes like the Weekly Contest, and no winners (or losers) either.

    Policies

*One Photo per Day - Don't post more than one photo each day.

*Quote with Thumbnails - When you quote an image please restore it's thumbnail before replying. You can do this either by installing the AutoTIMG browser extension or by editing the code by hand.

*Multi-Quote - To comment on several photos, click the Multi-Quote button. This puts all your comments in one post. Multi-Quoting is required on all of the MacRumors forums.

*SFW (Safe for Work) only - This is a site - wide rule. If you wouldn't show it in a public place, then it's NSFW (not safe for work). Think before you post.

*Describe your photo - Tell what it is and where you took it. If you know the EXIF data of a photo, include it. The following EXIF fields are recommended: Camera, ISO, Focal Length, Shutter/Aperture and Lens.

*Photography forum tutorials - If you need any help with posting, try one of these tutorials.

Posting Photos to Photo Forums from Flickr and ImageShack

How to Quote, Multi-Quote and Edit Posts

For One-Click Access, they are all here: Designer Dale's Google Docs Folder

Note: Anyone may start the Photo of the Day thread on the first of the month GMT. Please copy a quote of this post or download the Welcome file from HERE when you do. Both maintain all the formatting and links.

So I was about to post in the April thread, and then the moment I said "Happy May Day" I realized that we needed a new thread for this month.

    So.. Happy May Day!

Flowers for my darling wife. Worked the shot in PS CS6, along with ColorStrokes & Focus 2 Pro Apps.

Is this photo of the day or flower of the day? :)

Can't actually see your flowers unless I click on the question mark. On an iPad today. Anybody else having this issue?

Photo of the Day May 2014

Oops. Foolishly posted this in the April thread. D'oh!

My tube peeping for today was this cute old German couple who looked like they were really enjoying each other's company.

Thanks for letting me know. I have checked it on my iPhone in the Mercury browser, my cMBP and iMacs with no issues. Have also checked it on my son's iPad mini and it is showing on all devices. Wish I knew what to tell you.

I get the black exif box as an attachment too but the photo is loading above it. I'm also on an iPad.

It's probably an iOS 6 thing. I'm on an iPad 2 (wife's cast off). I spent all my money on photographic equipment!

A bee from the other day. Cropped a bit to fill the frame.

Thats how I see it on my iMac now. I've not played with selective B & W but this looks great.

    acearchie. Dude. Whoa. Seriously.

That is a beautiful video and you've done a terrific job. It is so cool to see the style you have shared with us on this forum translate seamlessly into video work. I was hooked and had to watch several more videos, each highlighting your talents as well.

I have a feeling we'll be seeing your name on the big screen soon. Keep up the great work!

I wish I had stayed on IOS6 on my iPad 2. It's seriously sluggish and unreliable since I updated. Crashing and stuttering. Even after several clean installs.

Seriously dude that's really good. Proper talent right there!

What a fun thread. Here's a shot I took today of a Great Crested Grebe. Last week there were two chicks, today it's just this one left. Hopefully he will make it.

    Taken late in the afternoon.

    Image is uncropped.

Nice simitary. Not sure if this is the usual mode of transport for chicks, but makes for a great photo.

Congrat's Ace! Superb production on all fronts. Very marketable!

Big things ahead for all involved, I suspect!

Whenever I go to London, Mrs MacRy always gives me a two word photo challenge. Yesterday it was either "purple" or "shame" (she always gives me an abstract concept to capture because it amuses her). I got a few shots of people wearing purple but I was particularly pleased with this guy because he definitely has a look of shame on his face.

Was playing around with Macro and a manual flash. Here's the result. What do you think?

I watched both videos - very slick. I don't know how competitive that market is, but you've definitely got what it takes.

He should be ashamed - isn't that a copy of the Daily Mail in his hand?

    Nice - very pop-arty

LOL. It may well be. He looks like a Mail reader ;)

He had a lot of food remnants down his jumper - they were probably spat out in indignation over some kind of immigrant based story in his copy of the Daily Mail.

Yes, it's customary for a number of waterfowl to carry their offspring on their back. Protects the little ones from predators, both in the air and in the water.
