While walking around Nankin Lake with my camera and 400mm lens on my shoulder strap, I ventured to a section where the Rouge River (A tributary) flows through Hines Park in Wayne County. This historic river, which connects Wayne, Washtenaw, and Oakland Counties before joining the Detroit River, provided an unexpected surprise. From a bridge, I spotted a Great Blue Heron wading in the water below. Interestingly, I had seen this heron fly in this direction earlier while I was on the opposite side of Nankin Lake, but never expected to encounter it here.
