I am off to Munich later but looking outside, I am not going to enjoy it. Rotten weather. Went out for tap safe treatment for my daughters' fish and got soaked!
Lovely city - I go there regularly but never have the opportunity to take my camera. Safe trip.
Packin my RX100... Was going to take one of the big guns but need to be nimble so space in my carry on a premium. Save it for New York on Friday. I am hoping to get somewhere nice. The guys normally arrange something cool. Last time was the Olympic tower for dinner so should be good wherever we go.

I love these shots. Do you take any with a faster shutter speed to freeze the action. When ever I'm at a scene like this (not very often!), I like to take a variety of speeds. But when I'm editing it's always the slower ones that look better to my eye.

I tend to find the slower shutter speeds give a more attractive result - having said that, what counts as "slow" really depends on the rate of flow of the water. these are all less than 1-second exposure because the water was flowing very rapidly. Other shots I've posted in the past have taken 1-- to 30- seconds o get a satisfactory silky texture because the flow rate was correspondingly lower. "Fast" shutter speeds have their place but for me I try to get slow enough to give a nice water texture. By the way, the colour of the water is natural - very peat-laden hence the relish-brown colour.

I read an interesting article recently by Moose Peterson about an alternate method of getting the long exposure effect in bright light without using an ND filter...it involves taking multiple exposures. I haven't had a chance to try it yet but may soon as I've damaged the filter threads on my 24-70 and it won't take a filter without extensive and, I'm certain, costly repair.
