Thanks for your kind words yesterday, gkarris and Doylem. Comments like that definitely help to keep me motivated here on MR. :)

Now a bit of nit picking. What exactly don't you understand about "Photo of the Day". That's photo, singular. Sorry but I get a bit ruffled when posters just don't follow the rules. Perhaps best explained below...

I have to agree. Love the quote, btw.

I've taken many photos of this bridge in all seasons. Judging by the shadows, I'm always there atthe same time too! This bridge is on a public walking trail here.

The white bridge is such a great subject: distinct, textured, and sinuous. I could spend a lot of time at a location like that!

Model: NIKON D50
ISO: 200
Exposure: 1/125 sec
Aperture: 7.1
Focal Length: 32mm

Great slice of Americana here, and interesting misty morning light. You might want to adjust the levels, though. I just checked it, and the histogram shows nothing between 245-255 (so the highlights are a bit dingy).

I'm actually going to start and try to post a photo a day now :)

^^ with the right lighting of course. make sure those power pole shadows are out of the way!!

p.s. that was for designerdale btw haha sorry LER your picture is great!

Lenses are just tools... the photographer makes the photograph. That photo was taken with the 24-70mm f/2.8L on a 5D, but could have just as easily been done with a nifty fifty on a 350D. ;)

Here's another from the same wedding

yeah i know its the photographer :p
You really think you couldve done the same with a nifty 50 on a 350d? i dunno, just the dof there seemed perfect... the blur was just right, and the focus seemed perfect.

Just cause ive been looking into what makes a great pic OTHER than the photographer, mainly what difference the quality of the optics makes. ah i dunno :p nice pics, nontheless :)

I love this shot. It immediately made me smile. The colors and of course the subject. Good job!

"Sure I believe in rules. If you don't, then you've got no game at all, do you? It's just a mess. I spent three years of my life with no rules, and I didn't like it. I want rules. Standards. If you can't measure up, get off the world. That's what we're dealing with: people who won't follow the rules. **** 'em!"

"The Timothy Files", Lawrence Sanders

Again, I apologize if I have gone a bit overboard but let's get with the program everyone. Cheers

LOL Thanks for the comment (it make me smile too).

Here is another one.

This would make an interesting HDR.

Dale

I'm not sure what you'd gain with going to some HDR technique... the photo seems to have it's highlights and shadows well exposed already, and there is certainly enough saturation... so maybe I'm just a bit confused about what you mean... :) Of course, you could do the Photomatix thing, bracket several photos, run tone-mapping on it, push the sliders hard one way or the other, and make it look somewhat computer-graphic-like, which might look interesting. But the photo itself doesn't seem to cry out for HDR treatment, in my opinion. Others may disagree, of course. ;)

I have to comment... ALL OF YOU take such wonderful photos! Keep them coming they're are truly amazing!
Here's mine for today.

I got a nifty shot in my kitchen. I cleaned an apple slicer and water ran off of it onto the glass cutting board in the exact shape of the blades.

I'd post it, but it just didn't come out as I'd hoped. Maybe if I'm not feeling lazy I'll put it up in a bit.

thanks. I guess I could have tweaked the white point a bit... but I think being a bit foggy that early a.m. tended to lower the contrast just a bit, and if I made the blacks 0 and the whites 255, it might have been too 'perfect' and lost some of the sense of the foggy morning. :) But... I'm going to give it a try on my own to see how it looks. thanks for your constructive suggestion. I do appreciate it very much. :)
