I know, more of a snapshot, but something about this I like. Maybe the contrast between her hat and the rest of the picture.

Oo, loved the pic Nicholie  care to post ur exif? And I'm in love with her facial features (the eyes, nose bridge, eyelash, lips, jawline and etc.) is she your model or something? Perfect choice nonetheless.

One terrific portrait deserves what I hope is another:

Looked at your site, Nicholas. You've got a lot of great work, and I have a lot of respect for your lighting ability. As I have none myself, it seems pretty top-notch to me.

Wow, well I felt tempted this time, just to continue the recent portraiture trend. Here is a photo of my sis when she was tidying up her hair before we went out to the mall.

Lovely portrait... but, for me, the orange on the right is very distracting. There isn't much of it... but it draws the eye away...

I thought this too, and I did a few without it. But it felt like it was missing a little pop in it without it to me. I do see your feelings also though. I appreciate the open commentary.

I tried to stay awake last night to try and shoot some meteors but didn't make it very long. Instead I got this. Nothing Special.

Its clickable, so click it! It looks better when it's the full size.

School performance today. I don't like to show the children's faces on the interweb thingy, I tried the cartoon effect of the (new) toyviewer.

I'm going to be the contrarian here and say I actually like the splash of color on this one, and it doesn't make me take my eyes off of her. She's a natural beauty, and you captured her very well.

I wouldn't mind the color if it were on both sides of her face, but it's all the way at the right and is indeed very bright and distracting (and the stripe pattern certainly doesn't help). Otherwise, it's a super portrait, and you're very lucky to have such a photogenic model to pose for you.

Bit of background. I was given some comp tickets to a HUGE exhibition called Salon International in London. I took it as an opportunity to practice taking pictures of people and practice using manual mode. Any C+C would be more than welcome!

I'll join the side that likes the use of orange. There is a lot going on here with color that frames the face well. The green sweeps down from the left and the orange rises up on the right. They cup the face between them. No matter how we disagree about color, we all like the shot. Nice.

Don't ge me going on that grey strap, though...

Just me...

Didn't know my portrait would raise such a debate! :p

Thank all of you for your compliments. It was such a quick, impromptu shoot that we just went with what clothes we were wearing.

And yes, she is very very pretty on her own and a pleasure to work with. She makes my job much easier from a lighting/composition stand point.
