I posted a couple of days ago asking if there was any way to get the Photo Stream pictures placed directly in a folder on my Mac rather than running them through iPhoto. I don't use iPhoto but use Picasa instead. The answer was no of course. Well I thought I'd share a workaround I came up with. I also have an old Compaq PC running Windows 7, which I use occasionally for different things, even though my main computer is my Mac. Well, I installed iCloud for Windows on that PC and turned Photo Stream on. I then setup the directory for Photo Stream to be in Dropbox, which I have setup both on the PC and on my Mac. Problem solved. All my Photo Stream pictures get picked up on the PC and then stored on Dropbox, where I can then pick them up easily on my Mac and update Picasa (and publish out on my Picasa account). I just thought this was an interesting way of doing it, just in case anyone else might have the same setup.
