Photo Stream on a computer?

Is there any way to access a snapped photo I've taken on my iPhone on a Mac/PC, directly?

Configure iCloud on your Mac, enable iCloud, and get the newest iPhoto - you will see everything that is in your photostream in iPhoto and they should automatically copy/create a new event ..

Dont know how it works on a PC ..
