I just tried aperture and good grief it is soooooo slow on the new 13" air. Noise reduction, sharpening, adjustment brushes...it was so frustrating. Lightroom does a simpler, and IMO better, preview render which makes it about 200x faster...

Is there a way to change the behaviour? It was brutal.
I have no issues with Aperture on my 11" so I'm not sure whats slowing you down so much. But as for saying Lightroom is faster, then you're right. I made a HUGE mistake in switching to A3 and now that I'm here I can't switch back because Id have to redo over a years worth of work.

IF there was some sort of migration tool to go from A3 to LR then I'd be all over it because I really don't think Apple cares a bit about the Pro market customers anymore. We are WAY overdue for a bug fix.

I have never used Aperture--but I just made the switch into Light Room and I find myself liking it quite a bit. My photo collection is very small, only around 1800 pictures (unculled at that.) I bought the Kindle version of Scott Kelby's book for LR3. Hoping to learn a lot more!

Hmm. Maybe I will post a video about the speed. It's not just slower. It's 20x slower than lightroom on basic edits.

I'm starting to second think this (13 inch air) for my graphics needs as well. Not being able to show the whole srgb color space is a real issue. The 4gb ram isn't ideal either but I could live with that. The color issue is real problem though. Thing is I can't stand the low resolution of the 13inch pro, so it's this or the 15inch mbp. Guess I'll have to deal with the extra weight.

In the end I have decided to keep the air for basic stuff, culling, slight edits...and import catalogs to a desktop for now. I want to see what's coming in the next 6-8 months and the amazon deal makes the air so cheap...it's not a real money loser.
