I'd like to take a moment to step away from the fun parts of photography, and discuss the heart stopping part - damaged or stolen equipment. Some of us are just starting out in the hobby, some of us have been at it longer. Both groups will have invested a few hundred to a few thousand dollars into this hobby or business venture. Like many of you, I've read multiple books and articles all that state "Insure your equipment". My question to all of you that insure your equipment - what does your specific policy cover in regards to damage/theft? Do you have it as homeowner/renter or business insurance? What advice would you give? Over the last year I've invested in a few very nice lenses and I want to do the responsible thing, but most of the websites I've visited are more confusing than helpful. Any insight from you who have your equipment insured is appreciated.
