Hey,

can we for a moment take a look at the photos App on the current AppleTV under tvOS 12 and 13.

why on earth is it so many steps behind the iOS version. Why does it not recognize faces and does all the other magic stuff, that the iOS Version can do. One argument could be that its because of the storage of the Apple TV device, but then I would say that even a 16GB iPhone can do more with the photos app then the AppleTV does.

Has anyone a guess or idea why that is the case? :)

Sure it would be nice if the Photos app on Apple TV had more features. Have you made suggestions to Apple for the features you'd like to see added?

It does not have to have the same features as iOS because the only way to view photos is to activate the icloud photo library. If it is activated, all other devices take care of the functions.

Except that Apple has your personal devices do all the face recognition for privacy reasons. My AppleTV is always plugged in. An AppleTV with a A12X or A14(x) would have a lot of idle NPU power to do that heavy lifting and save the rest of my, battery constrained, devices. But, yes, I mostly use the AppleTV to view not edit/arrange photos. I don’t see that really changing.

iCloud Photo sync is big draw for me personally so I’d love to see more features/enhancements.

Yeah, it is pretty disappointing. It is buggy too.

Albums doesn't match what is on my Mac's photo app. I am unsure why People are not a part of it.

I wish there was a better way of scrolling down in a large library. The endless swiping is annoying.

The Memories feature is nice, but not unique to tvOS.

Not sure why we get half-baked apps like the Photos app and TV app on tvOS.

It is a shame, as the ATV4K could be so much more, but as of right now, it is basically an overpowered streaming box.
