been away from iOS for a few years why am I finding the Photos App are to understand

I have photos in recent then later the albums tab is empty and they move to the photos tab

EDIT: maybe I am being thrown off with no camera roll

Camera roll is apparently coming back in iOS 8.1.

thank god, I hate that Camera tab how it organizes your photos I want my random ones in a camera roll and I will create my own Albums based on how I organize them not by date or location or year
