I noticed that the Apple TV has a new 1080p output mode since Take 2. I was curious if this meant it would display photo slide shows, either from iPhoto or Flickr at the true 1080p resolution. I currently have a 1080p LCD and plug my PowerBook G4 into the DVI connection to display photo slide shows and they look great. I am considering getting an Apple TV but would like to make sure I'd get the same quality slide shows I am now with the added convenience of not having to move my PB to the TV.

Yes, :apple:TV now displays everything on screen @ 1080p. The quality of your image of course depends on the source image.

What :apple:TV does not do is decode a movie a video @ 1080p so while it is outputting the image at the highest resolution, the source content is at most 720p.

Because images don't need to be decoded, they display at the highest resolution: 1080p. Menus also fall under this category.
