I've changed my photos library on the Mac to download full resolution images and videos to my iMac and I'm not on Day 4! for the last 12 hours its been stuck on the same video!

Anyone else had this issue? its put me off massively for trusting the cloud at this point and I just want my videos safely back.

Any ideas on how to speed it up? my internet is fast so thats not the issue.

Yes, sometimes for large libraries it can take a while. It really depends on your library's size, a detail you didn't mention. Which OS version are you using on what Mac?

I’m on a 2014 iMac quad core 8 gigs of ram and running big sur.

I have 1500 photos and 298 videos and it’s been stuck on downloading the same file for 24 hours now. I’ve restarted the Mac and routers earlier today and it’s still not made any improvement.

Any ideas?

Yes, let it finish.
Ha but 24 hours for 1 file is insane. The biggest file I have is 20 gigs so no way it can be stuck on that for 24 hours.. I download large files for work that size in under 3 hours usually.

I'm still waiting! its downloaded one file but taken another 24 hours and still stuck on the next one. I have 823 files left to go and at this rate it will be Christmas 2024

I gave up with the iMac, photos and my home broadband and went to a 5G location with my phone and set them to download to my phone and it did them in 15 hours. 5G is just so fast. my home internet isn't slow so im guessing the photos app on the iMac just wasn't playing ball for some reasons.

Now I'm just transferring them from the phone to the iMac to then back up and start again with my library.
