Aloha all, long time photos user with a new situation...

I'm looking for an expedient way to delete a lot of photos that are spread out over many years (take for prior employment and i'd like to free up ssd space). I'd rather not scroll through six years to delete the photos in question. Luckily, I collected them into a folder as I imported them from my phone.

But if I delete the folder, it doesn't delete the photos, correct? Or is there a way to also delete the source photos with the folder?

And, by the way, I can't go by location because they're spread out geographically and mixed with other photos that I want to keep.

thanks!

As you say, deleting the folder does not delete the photos. Go into the folder and select all there photos, then hold the Command key as you press the Delete key. Holding the Command key deletes the photos no matter where you are doing it from.

To be sure, after selecting all the photos, Choose the Image menu and hold the Command key. At the bottom of the menu you will see the item change from "Remove from album" to "Delete".

After doing this go into the Recently Deleted folder to see them all there.

Sometimes, when I need to delete a number of photos, I mark them with a keyword "to be deleted" or something similar. Then I can find all those marked at some point in the future and delete them all then.

Great stuff, Nigel... I’ll give it a try and will let you know!
