Photos forwarded from iPhone 5 to Mail/emails are distorted - what gives?

Never had a problem till recently. I take some photos on my iPhone 5 then email them to family. But when I open Mail app and go to sent and click on these emails the images are all chopped, distorted and truncated. Any ideas whats going on?

Yet the photos on my iPhone in the sent folder look fine.. 🙁
