Scan of photos still not reporting completed as well as some of my search tests returned different results than public beta 2.

How long?/How many photos? You probably spotted it but beta 3 insists you have Photos closed while it performs the scan (and be connected to a power source but that part isn't new).

As for the different results, yep, I'd be surprised if we don't see that change on every beta as Apple refines the recognition algorithm.

Yes, I did spot to close photos and connect to power source... Your right, I guess there will be changes to the scan for the beta as well as the updates to the release code.

Do you know a way to trigger a rescan. On each beta I copy my live copy (El Capitan copy) and macOS photos converts and scans again.

Hey guys,

For me it's been even weirder. My computer spent a few weeks scanning my photos on beta 2 (44460 photos) and I was super happy when it was finally done because it's been putting a huge load on my CPU (I've been at loads of 70 at times on a dual core). Once I was done I thought "Awesome, won't have to go through that ever again".

But after installing the beta 3, it started all over again. Anybody experiencing this?
My only suspicion is that either Apple's improved the neural net since beta 2 so they are re-scanning my library for better results or they just want to do more machine learning on users' computers.

Also I'm curious how long it's been taking for you guys... Like I said, mine took weeks of constant 100% CPU usage (think of the damage of 90°C for several weeks...).

Everybody has their library recognition reset on the beta upgrades so far. It will probably happen on every beta and almost certainly at the GM at the very least.

As for the temps, they won't damage your Mac.

It take around two hours to complete the scan, but I have only a little over 3500 photos as well as an hybrid hard drive.

Mine have never completed the scanning. It always gets stuck at 4556 of 4810. Been weeks...
