My friend had a older mac that would not start. He has photos on it he would like to get off the hard drive. Any ideas how to do that? Could I get an external case for the hard drive and then get them through my mac? thanks teqmter

You're not telling us enough.

What kind of Mac is it (iMac?)?
What year was it made?
When you turn it on, what happens, even if it doesn't boot?
Does it have firewire ports?
Does your friend have access to ANOTHER Mac?
Do YOU use a Mac that might be used in the recovery process?
