Photoshop CS2 + Quad = PAINFULLY SLOW

Honestly, I have no idea how to repair permissions, run scripts, or reset PRAM. Is it difficult to do?

Not at all.

Permissions Repair:

Finder>Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility>Select your HDD>Click on Repair Permissions

Scripts:

Finder>Applications>Utilities>Terminal>Enter "sudo periodic daily weekly monthly" (sans quotes).

After that, shut the machine down completely. Start the machine up after a couple of minutes and while it is starting up hold down the CTRL-OPT-P-R keys until you hear a startup chime for the second time.

Let us know how you make out.

And I have your same setup with no issues, FWIW.

Sorry I know you said you didn't know much about Macs, but for some reason I assumed that you already tried all the software fixes and were now worried about hardware. You should do all the above mentioned things first.

Also, unplug any unecessary peripherals like USB hubs and external drives. Keep it to Keyboard, Mouse, and Display. See if any of your external devices are causing this.

I have a Quad with the 7800GT and 4 gigs of ram, and my PS flies (its CS, not CS2).

i am leary on uprgrading to CS2 after this thread.

I use CS2 and no known problems. Automator and I, now thats a different story.....
