I was thinking of buying photoshop when I get my macbook, but I can't decide which one to get, should I spend the extra $200(w\ student discount) and get regular photoshop, or save $200 and get elements... I mainly want to know if I can make the following pics, using elements, or if that will require the regular photoshop.

    Thanks for the help!

if you want to save money just buy the gimp. Rivals photoshop in most respects, although it is different in its layout.

It really comes down to a handful of tools that if you don't know they aren't there, you most likely won't miss them.

After more than 15 years using Photoshop, I tend to be a little lost when using Elements (which I'm pretty sure is intentional to help keep old timers like me from switching), and there are some tools I really would rather have (like color range selection... I'm not much of a magic wand type of person). But if I was just starting out, Elements would be great.

Adobe offers 30 day trials of most of their software, and I'd imagine they'd offer the same for Elements. Why not try it and see if it meets your needs?
