Been using GIMP for many years, but unfortunately it's broken in Big Sur, because the way windows are redrawn apparently has changed, which results in no selections being visible in GIMP (you can't see the "marching ant" outline of selections). I've waited months for it to be fixed, but it's still broken, so I finally broke down and subscribed to the PS/LR Adobe bundle.
So in GIMP, when I made a rectangular selection, it was really easy to adjust the selection area size after the fact by clicking and dragging any corner or side of the selection. For example, when you hover over the top right corner of a selection with the cursor, you'd see this:
So how do you do the same thing in Photoshop? Do you have to press a key to make similar adjustment "handles" visible? All I seem to be able to do is move the selection once it's made.
By the way, I just found a bug in Photoshop for macOS. I made a selection in an empty area of the canvas and under Properties > Transform on the right, I changed the width. An error message popped up stating "Could not transform the selected pixels because the selected area is empty." But when I click "OK" or press the Esc key to dismiss it, it keeps popping back up. There's no way to get rid of it, and you can't do anything else because it's persistent. The only thing you can do is force-quit the app. See video below (I've also posted this on the Photoshop feedback forum):
