If you're a pro... the small screen is the only minor problem! Other than that it does wonders.....
The size of the small screen is definitely a problem for pro work, and the un-evenness of the display (brightness & color variations with slight changes in viewing angles) is a MAJOR problem for pro work. But this is to be expected of any TN-panel monitor!
Just plug the MacBook into a nice, high quality, NON-TN-panel external monitor and all is right in the universe again!
Yes, upselling I can understand. but out right lying to do so is just wrong. I mean, let's say my girlfriend went in on her own. she needed a laptop, so when she'd been told MacBooks can't run photoshop she'd have probably ended up in another computer buyin a laptop, as a mbp would be way out of her budget.
Look at it from another perspective. If he said it would run Photoshop, and your GF wanted to make some giant ass posters at 500dpi, and it lagged like a mofo as it would do, she would be annoyed.
My MacBook has 1GB of RAM and I run CS3 no problem. :|
