add a layer mask to the layer you want to dissolve and put a gradient on it

    How do I do that?

I click on Layer > Layer Mask and it only gives me an option to reveal or hide all.

And what do you recommend in terms of anti-aliasing? Smooth or crisp?

Are you trying to emulate a mirrored effect below the text?

Yes. But I just figured it out how to add a layer mask. Thanks!

A bit of the old gaussian and some subtle curves
    wouldn't go amiss either.
