Hello all, I wanted to write a review on a sleeve I found out a couple weeks ago. I’m very picky about sleeves and cases for technology I use every day. The main things I look for are that they compliment the size of my device as much as possible. Small footprint, thin, but big enough for my iPad in the Apple Keyboard case, look good, and hold my Apple Pencil.
I found Picaso Lab leather sleeves through an article I was reading. The first thing I noticed was the stitching along the outside. Most leather cases have that slit that increases the footprint, and holding them tends to bite into the fingers a little after holding them for awhile, so you get that little fatigue. The stitching on this sleeve wraps rounded and smoothly around the case which does not increase the footprint and easier to hold.
The next thing that impressed me about this case was that it is deep enough to keep the Apple Pencil attached and charging without feeling like it could fall off. To reinforce this, there is a secondary snap on strap that keeps it in place.
Reading further into this company, the products are all handmade in America. The Napa Leather also comes from California, that is always one of my first selling points.
I put my order in for the brown and gray, and it arrived nicely packaged 4 days later, I thought it would be longer. Opening the packaging, the high quality was so apparent. The Brown color is rich, the stitching is thick, there is no worry of this coming apart. The instructions warn the iPad will be tight at first, to keep it in the case overnight without use to let the leather form to it, and after a short time it will be easier to insert and remove. In my experience the snugness was slight. I followed the instructions, but from the start it has been easy to work with. The Leather is nice and thick, the edges are solid as advertised and over good protection. The red strap attached by snaps on both sides of top of the case. It holds the pencil on the iPad with no fear of the pencil sliding off. The inside of the sleeve is felt lined which is why you don’t feel that leather gripping and makes it so easy to work with.
Looking through the website and different products, you could tell Alex the owner is making these products for him and sharing his pride with the world. They had a version of the MacBook case with a limited edition 500 pieces signed by Steve Wozniak and the full sale price went to charity. If this case is good enough for Woz, hey, definitely good enough for me.
I dont mean to geek out so much about a sleeve, but I have so much appreciation for products that are 100% my taste along with a good story behind it.
