I finally picked up my macbook 2.4 at 1 PM today :) I made this video... go watch it haha it's pretty intense.

it includes my black 2.2 macbook, my new 2.4 one, and my boyfriends 2.33ghz macbook pro

haha it's funny because if the volume is up you can hear us laughing.. my poor little black one couldn't keep up :)

The florida mall in Orlando has one and I'm assuming millenia, because they said they were getting a shipment in the afternoon. The track pad is really neat! You can use expose with it to switch through spaces. It's easy to slide across and click on too, but i still keep my thumb in the "clicker" position haha

Haha, love it. Poor black book needs to retire. :) Good comparison. I'm glad the new one looks just as fast as the MBP.

Does the track pad actually "cclick" or do you just tap the track pad like you can with previous computers?

the whole entire thing actually clicks. I know its a "glass trackpad" but it looks just like the regular one. It must have a glass coating. Yes, the whole thing depresses. The keys feel a little bit more protected than the macbooks, it seems like they have more of a Teflon coating... its nice!

Does it feel normal? Do you misclick? Do you have to modify your normal hand movements in any way?

it feels just like the other trackpad, but it sits a liiiittle bit deeper. I haven't misclicked yet, you have to press it pretty firmly to click so I don't think that will be a problem :) I actually like it better than having a button because you can click wherever your hands are rather than keeping one finger on the clicker

excellent! i have an old 1.33 ghz powerbook g4 and the keys and track pad button have so much junk down them that some of them barely work. especially the track pad button. might get one just for that reason.

thank you :) sorry it wasn't closer or clearer but I was using my digital camera to take it from farther away. my boyfriend took some nice pictures of all three together on his canon xti (super crisp) so maybe tonight when he gets back from class or tomorrow I can throw them up here too

I also wanted to say: I've noticed a lot of people here are doubtful of what the new macbooks/pros will look like in person. THEY ARE DAMN SEXY! Make sure you go see a display model. After setting all three up next to eachother with the same wallpaper, we saw how excellent the LED and glass made the view on the new macbook. It was incredible!

so don't hate :)

Oooooh, you've got me all excited now with this video. Total macbook porn.

I pick mine up in t-minus 3 hours!

omg ur right your old one is so much slower! Like by almost half a second! Good thing you put down $1300 to get rid of that old piece of junk ;).

But seriously I understand your excitement because it looks like a sweet machine and this will be my first mac purchase ever :D.

the fan is quiet, and it hasnt felt hot.. I haven't played with it TOO much so I'm not really a good judge to say yet :) as for wi-fi, it works better than my black macbook.. but my old one has been slow today anyway for some reason. I would guess the speed is about the same.

I wish I just put down 1300 to get rid of that :) unfortunately I got the high model so with the student discount and tax it STILL came to 1564 or something. I'm actually on my way back to the apple store right now to exchange it because when I opened the box, it had another layer of tape that was already cut open. I thought it was weird, then when I started inspecting the aluminum there were weird chips in a few spots. It started to bug me because I feel like it was opened when it got there and something chipped it, so they agreed to exchange it without the stock fee. Hopefully by tomorrow I can let you all know how the fan/heat is.. but I'm sure most of you will be getting yours in the mail by then!
